Treatment with Amanda
I take a person-centered approach to therapy and believe that treatment should be guided by your goals, your values, and what you want your life to look like. At the same time, I take a systemic approach, recognizing that we are shaped by our relationships, families, environments, and experiences. Therapy is a place to look at all of those pieces together rather than treating you as a collection of symptoms.
“The goal isn’t to become someone else. It’s to become more fully yourself.”
In therapy, I often use Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) skills to help build a strong foundation of coping skills, emotional regulation, and distress tolerance. I believe having those tools in place can help you create enough stability and safety to explore deeper work together. From there, we may explore trauma, attachment, relationship patterns, or other experiences that have shaped how you see yourself and the world around you. My goal isn't to tell you who you should be or what your life should look like. Instead, I want to help you better understand yourself, build the skills you need, and create a life that feels more like your own.
