What To Expect with your Assessment

A Clear, Guided Sequence

Once you've made that first brave move forward, the testing process is where your story begins to take form. Psychological testing is a guided journey, progressing chapter by chapter, helping you understand what’s going on below the surface. We proceed slowly and deliberately so you feel informed, not overwhelmed.

The testing process moves forward in a clear, guided sequence:

Session 1: A two‑hour virtual clinical interview where we listen closely to your experiences, history, and concerns.

Session 2: In‑person testing, usually including IQ and achievement measures, along with additional assessments customized to your specific circumstances.

Session 3: A one‑hour virtual feedback session where we walk through your results, discuss any diagnoses, and deliver clear, practical recommendations.

As a part of a thorough assessment, we collect interviews, self-report measures, surveys from parents, teachers, and/or other trusted individuals, and any appropriate academic or medical records. Since symptoms such as inattention, anger, hyperactivity, emotional dysregulation, memory issues, trouble processing, sensory sensitivities, and more, can have a variety of origins, this extensive approach enables us to see the full picture, not just the symptoms.

Insurance & Payment

Choosing to get a psychological assessment is an important step in understanding yourself, and as such, we always want to be as transparent as possible throughout the entire process. This includes helping you to understand the details of how insurance and payment work too.

We verify insurance coverage from our side, but we highly encourage you to contact your carrier and ask specifically about coverage for psychological testing (if you need specific codes, we are happy to provide them), as plans have different reimbursement allowances. We never want you to be surprised with your charges or balance. For example: a high-deductible plan could have your out-of-pocket expenses ranging from $1,000 to $1,700.

To give you an understanding of the timeline, payment is due in full at your feedback session.

Whatever you’re facing, we’re here to walk it with you.
